Initially launched in 2006 through the pilot program Schools for the Environment, in collaboration with MOL Romania, the Environmental Partnership Foundation has continued to develop and implement this essential program for the community. With the main objective of strengthening the financial sustainability of environmental NGOs in Romania, Green Spaces aims to mobilize and involve children, youth and local communities in afforestation and green spaces projects.

The program has several components:

1. Permaculture in Urban Areas: (from 2022): The new component provides funding for permaculture projects in cities and their immediate vicinity that are community-based and in line with the permaculture principles.

2. Protected Natural Areas: aims to promote the protected areas in Romania. It involves NGOs, schools, local communities and protected area managers.

3. Urban Green Spaces: granted projects for the rehabilitation or creation of green spaces and environmental education activities carried out by NGOs in collaboration with various institutions. Since 2018, funding has also been provided for programs organized in the framework of the European Mobility Week for an eco-conscious lifestyle. From 2020 the Urban Green Spaces component has been discontinued.
